Things to say

Full disclosure: I never really finished doing the daily practice. I only really wrote three stories about the Black Flood world and that was it... After the third one that I wrote I think I just began to not like how the whole thing was shaping up. It all seemed too forced and on the nose. The way that the characters were speaking about things just began to feel so very unnatural. I feel like this might be a result of me not having done enough research before getting into the daily practice... I know it would have been useful either way, but I did not feel like I had enough material to play with at the time. So I will finish transcribing the 3 that I did do in a bit, but I'm not going to spend more time trying to make it to 7 for the sake of the assignment. I think my time and energy would be much better invested in just trying to move forward with the project doing what I feel is necessary. That being said, there are ways in which I have managed to make some progress. I...

Some Sketches/Metaphors

1.- A blind person going on a journey to a destination they themselves don't know much about. May people help them throughout the way, but they all come and go and the blind person is always left to helplessly fend for his own. 2.- (in the world of the black flood) Somebody sets off on a journey to find a natural pearl, which are much rarer in this world, but also much more extraordinary. The journey is harsh and long and they are initially discouraged from going, but they insist that they must find a natural pearl and that a crafted one will not cut it for them. 3.- A penguin tries to fly. The penguin doesn't realize that swimming is also a cool thing to do.

NYUADFG Reflection

Waaaayyyyyyy overdue!! But better late than never! I read a short novel for school when I was a kid where a boy meets the ghost of a king and through their interactions the king learns to repent and then the author slaps you in the face with a lesson that was something like "it's never to late to fix your mistakes". So... I guess it's never too late? I think that the big issue for me was procrastination. But procrastination is, by now, a useless and meaningless word for me. Instead, I think I'd rather call it paralysis (even though this is not really accurate either). Actually, paralysis might not even be an appropriate word either. Maybe fear. Paralysis out of fear. You see, at many points throughout the process of making this NYUADFG I was paralyzed by this seemingly gargantuan task. My mind works in weird ways. It is always creating things that are not there. I wrote 4000 words for the NYUADFG, and I thought that because of that it would be extremely diffic...

Initial Mythology Creation Writing

-That story arose straight from the sand and then swept the sky and landed in the sea where it compressed into a pearl that still lives somewhere beyond the confines of our gaze. In time, people forget about it. Really, it started with the black flood. We fond it and it changed our lives. The pearl that people were looking for was no longer relevant, because now we had the black flood, and flocks and flocks from all over the globe began to make their way here upon the invitation of the unifying king whose imagined imagination still is the front face of this ship we are using. -It's been a lifetime since we saw the sea. The thing about the black flood is that it covers everything, so then you just can't see what's underneath it anymore. And that happens when you try to go in as well. Inside the black. You can no longer see what's above you. It happened to my son, Ahmed. He was doing just fine, learning how to navigate in the black. But he said he wanted more. That th...

That's how that conversation started. Also sorry about that one being really long... Email if something doesn't work.

Planning for part 2: Goals, Intentions, Time.

Switched to Blogger because it's easier to use! Upon self-reflecting a little, I realized that part of me not keeping up to date with the blog was that I hated the wordpress interface... So now I can be more productive with this thing! (pls dont judge for using Blogger lol) Goals! Goals are hard to define! The thing about goals that disturbs me is that it takes a long time to figure out what exactly do you want to do, but small goals always just feel unsatisfactory. Even then, there are a few vague things that I can aim for: To be timely with blog and assignments. To do all readings on their due date. Those were the easy goals that are easy to define and easy to accomplish. Now, it would be productive to come up with goals that would make the process of the project that I have to produce better.  How can we do that? Best idea I have at the moment is to try to imagine what the moment to moment of creating this project would be like, which is a near impossible task, so l...
